CBC News recently covered the Government of Canada’s $50 million investment in NPC, announced through the Strategic Response Fund as part of our $94.8 million initiative to strengthen Canada’s agri-food sector. The announcement took place at BioFoodTech in Charlottetown, where we started Natural Products Canada 10 years ago. As NPC Founder and CEO Shelley King told CBC, the funding will help young companies across the country grow by investing directly in them so they can hire experienced management and scale up their products. Federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Heath MacDonald noted the investment supports both seed funding for startups and expanded processing capacity, and plays a significant role in Canada’s national food security strategy. We are proud to see this milestone recognized, and even prouder that it happened where our story began.
