NPC Supports Three More Canadian Start-Ups

Companies show diverse scope of the demand for natural in everything from nutrition and fragrance to animal feed.

Natural Products Canada is proud to announce three more recipients of its Commercialization Programs designed to help high-potential Canadian companies overcome strategic commercialization challenges with specific milestone-generating intiatives.

“We are continually impressed with the calibre of Canadian companies applying for our programs,” says Shelley King, CEO, Natural Products Canada. “These three most recent recipients exemplify the kind of innovative, on-trend businesses that have big opportunities in front of them.”

The Programs were introduced in 2019 after in-depth consulation with the Canadian innovation and start-up ecosystem and have quickly gained a reputation for providing a valuable source of financing to companies at critical stages of their development. The three most recent recipients bring the total number of successful applicants to sixteen.

Bailly offers high-quality, clean and affordable scented products for women. Their fragrances have received a lot of media and customer love for their ‘free from’ qualities including being alcohol- and cruelty-free. Founders, Ariel Gough and Edwina Govindsamy are committed to female empowerment, and their six products reflect that with names like Soar, Brilliance, and Discover. Bailly will use the Fast Track to Financing Program to enhance brand development.

Entosystem is participating in Canada’s growing insect industry, providing sustainable protein for production and companion animal feed. Their advanced production technology positions them for growth in this quickly-evolving industry. Entosystem will use the Executive Talent Program to hire a Chief Financial Officer to help the company navigate through its next phase of expansion and commercialization.

Winecrush offers a breakthrough ingredient that helps enhance flavours while reducing the need for salt – a significant challenge for companies formulating plant-based food products. The product is made from derivatives of the wine-making process, making it a natural and sustainable ingredient. The company will use the Executive Talent Program to hire a VP Operations to lead them through scaling and optimizing production.
