Q: What’s the origin story behind Simply Go Natural Cosmetics?

A: Simply Go Natural Cosmetics was founded in 2016 by Joyce Adom after moving to Nova Scotia. She struggled to find toxin free natural skincare products for her asthmatic toddler who was suffering with severe eczema, and as a new black immigrant woman, she also faced challenges finding healthy natural products for her natural hair journey. She began making her own products for her and her family’s personal care needs. Shortly after, friends started requesting what she was making, and this led to her retailing at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market. Today, Simply Go Natural Cosmetics are found in 26 Sobeys stores across Atlantic Canada, as well as in several pharmacies in Ontario. The future looks bright for the company as they plan for expansion into Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

Q: What’s the best thing anyone has said about your product so far?

A: “I have psoriasis and thanks to Simply Go Natural, I’ve been able to get off my steroid based prescription cream. Simply Go Natural works better than the prescriptions I was using.”

Q: What’s the most rewarding thing about building your company so far? 

A: It is truly so rewarding that we are able to provide natural, toxin-free, healthy alternatives to customers recovering from illnesses, especially mothers struggling with eczema and psoriasis.

Q: What are the top 1-3 things that you’re focused on right now? 

A: We are currently focused on finding the right broker and distributors for our products nationally, acquiring more partner stores in Ontario, Alberta, Quebec and BC, and gathering buyer feedback on product price to ensure we are priced properly. 

Q: What is your key objective in attending CHFA?  

A: We are hoping to grow our network of brokers and distributors, and find the best partner who can help us manage sales and distribution as we expand to national markets.
