Q: What’s the origin story behind The Happy Era?

A: Takeout was expensive, pre-packaged foods were upsetting her stomach, and making great food from scratch was not a fun option while studying engineering. Domenique, The Happy Era founder, wanted to create something for her fellow hangry humans out there who were looking for an energizing boost of nutrition that tasted great and was easy to make.

In her third year of biological engineering, Domenique put her skills to the task of creating a product that was going to be satiating and delivered with enough protein, fiber and health fats to keep her going. She created the flagship high-protein waffle.

Since then, The Happy Era has expanded their offering to include a high protein muffin mix. To sweeten the deal (naturally, of course), they found a way to design their protein from a sustainable source of spent grain, contributing to the circular economy.  Happy humans, happy planet. Happy Era is here for it all!

Q: What’s the best thing anyone has said about your product so far? 

A: “The Happy Era is the only breakfast I’ll eat. I’ve purchased a freezer for my dorm room so I can have an endless supply.”

Q: What’s the most rewarding thing about building your company so far?

A: Making friends! Being a solo founder is cool because I get to choose who I spend my days with. I’ve met some of my best friends at markets and online.

Q: What are the top 1-3 things that you’re focused on right now?

A: I am currently focused on creating the most delicious high-protein product, and getting these products into as many mouths as possible. 

Q: What is your key objective in attending CHFA?

A: I love to build a connection with whoever I do business with; whether it be our next retailer or distributor. I look forward to allowing people to try our product and vibing out with them!
